Jeneses

Jeneses is a recently opened community centre on Linden Road in Bognor.

It's a huge old Church with lots of space you can rent out by the hour.

Theve only been open a few months but a few activities have got going already. (zumba/games night)

William Hardwick

The William Hardwick is centrally located in Bognor. It's nicely decorated. It has the potential to be so much better than it is.

The breakfast menu is pretty good value but the main menu a tad too expensive.

I visited in October 2012. My second visit to the William Hardwick. The food is generally OK, but on this occassion not brilliant.

The menu is huge - far too big a selection. They would probably do well to do fewer options better.

Service has been pretty poor on both occassions. On this occassion I bought a large coffee which had the same amount of coffee as a medium one (different shaped mug). When I mentioned it to the staff I was told I'd have to raise it with the manager.

Rosie Lee Cafe

The Rosie Lee Cafe is a short walk from the train station away from the town centre. As a result, it is much quieter than many of the Bognor cafe's at the weekend.

It has a pretty basic menu, focused almost exclusively on cooked breakfast. But it is done well. The quality of ingredients is a touch above the average Bognor cafe. The sausages and bacon are not the cheap variety you get in many cafe's for example. They also know how to make scrambled egg. The breakfast is cheaper than the average Bognor cafe.

The coffee I was given was instant. But I won't hold that against them.

It has a board in the window describing it as the "Best Bognor Breakfast". It is certainly a strong contender for this accolade.

the galleon

Visited here on a Saturday lunchtime in October 2012. It was very busy despite being a pretty big cafe.

It has a fairly typical cafe menu from cooked breakfast through to burgers, sandwiches and lasagna. The staff were friendly and efficient.

The food was above average for Bognor. The bacon sandwich was nice on a large fresh baguette.

The child's macaroni cheese was pretty big although had been left under the grill slightly too long so was slightly burnt on the top.

I have high standards for mushrooms and for scrambled egg. Sadly this cafe would fail on both. That said, I have yet to find a cafe in Bognor which can deliver on these. The mushrooms look like they are fried on a hot plate in fat, not butter (I assume the same one the meat is cooked on but may be wrong). And scrambled eggs far too overdone.

The coffee was very average/weak (sadly all to common in Bognor).

It cost £20 for 3 of us.

Bognor Rocks

If you have some time free on a Saturday afternoon in Bognor, you could do worse than going to see Bognor Regis FC (http://www.therocks.co.uk/).

It's a nice little club which attracts 400-500 people. There is a licenced bar, a good snack bar (you must try the bread pudding) and a friendly atmosphere.

Here are a few pictures from Bognor vs Ilford in September 2012.

Syrup Cafe

Not far from the train station, the Syrup Cafe offers a menu of breakfasts and other hot meals and snacks. I visited in October 2011. I had beans on toast (hot, better bread than poppins). The food and drinks are pretty good and good value. One of the better breakfast joints in Bognor.

Regis Market

Bognor Regis has a small market near the Regis on the seafront. The Market is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays in the Summer. And Saturdays only (weather permitting) in the Winter.

Poppins

I popped into Poppins on 29th September 2012.

I had beans on toast (£3.20) and a coffee.
The coffee was weak. The beans were cold. The toast was made with the most basic of supermarket breads and covered in cheap vegetable spread.

The fixed seats are pretty close to the tables.
